Movie Review: Housefull 5 – A Star-Studded Circus of Confusion

If you thought the Housefull series had already reached peak madness, Housefull 5 says, “Hold my popcorn.” Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and backed by Sajid Nadiadwala, this fifth installment in the blockbuster franchise throws all logic out the window (again) — and replaces it with a whirlwind of identical faces, mistaken identities, reincarnated love stories, and a house full of stars. Literally.

✨ The Plot (spoiler inside):

The film kicks off with the dramatic death of Ranjeet (played by the iconic Ranjeet) just days before his 100th birthday. His vast fortune is left to his mysterious heir, Jolly. Enter the chaos: three eccentric men — Jalabuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), Jalbhushan (Abhishek Bachchan), and Julius (Akshay Kumar) — each claiming to be the rightful Jolly. As the plot unfolds aboard a luxury cruise, a string of murders throws everyone into a frenzy, only to reveal that none of them are who they say they are. Just when you think it can’t get more absurd, Bobby Deol appears out of thin air, declares himself the real Jolly, generously splits the inheritance, and casually marries Sonam Bajwa — don’t ask how or why, because Housefull logic doesn’t believe in explanations!

🌟 The Star Cast – Or Should We Say, Star Crowd:

This film has many stars and here’s the list – Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Johnny Lever, Dino Morea, Fardeen Khan, Chitrangada Singh, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Ranjeet, among others.

Akshay Kumar leads the charge with his trademark comic timing, holding the chaotic plot together as best as anyone possibly could. Riteish Deshmukh once again proves he’s the soul of this franchise with his effortless goofiness. All others were just trying be present, do something and get some screentime. It is chaotic and messy at times.

🤣 Comedy & Writing:
The writing embraces the franchise’s legacy — don’t expect wit, expect whack. There’s physical comedy, silly puns, wordplay, and absurd sequences that somehow work because the cast commits to it with full energy. Some jokes genuinely land well, others are eye-roll-inducing, but the film rarely gives you a breather to process. Its a slapstick comedy with murder mystery that fails at script and writing and even the dialogues.

👑 Final Verdict:
Housefull 5 is not here to win awards or change cinema. It’s here to entertain, overwhelm, and make you laugh (and maybe confuse you a little too much). If you walk into the theatre expecting logic, character development, or a tight script — you’ll walk out baffled. But if you’re in the mood for light-hearted nonsense, loud laughter, and a star-studded circus, then Housefull 5 delivers. Also, there are 2 endings of the movie which is idk, confusing! I mean, they could have just released one only.

⭐ Rating: 2/5
For fans of the franchise, this is a fun, over-the-top ride. For everyone else, don’t watch with any expectation, mindless timepass material.
